For the past few weeks I’ve had a number of things on my mind, but I guess the most prominent is Sarah are you ready? And by ready, I don’t mean am I the right age, do I have enough time in the day etc, but am I prepared?
Am I equipped with all that is required of me to handle the very blessings I have prayed for or do I want to find out on the job? Well heck no!
If you follow me personally, you will know that mid 2018 I had a rebrand of my business S’Alongé. Aside from the financial investment, the physical and mental effort was enough for me to just want to give in and give up. But we moved and we got through. Praise God!
Months have passed and just as I prayed for, there has been an increase in interest and business. This has no doubt come at the time when work is at its busiest, family events are at the highest and ministry commitments have heightened meaning I have no free weekends until the new year and most of my evenings are also consumed.
As happy as I am to see a growth in my business and also to increase my commitments for God and spend time with loved ones, it is easy to get overwhelmed. So I sat down and had to truly ask myself
Did I adequately prepare for this?
I prayed, fasted, sowed and now I am reaping what I asked for. But all of a sudden it feels like I don’t acquire the right set of tools to manage this.
I remember a week when a group of my friends were meeting up and I so badly wanted to be there but I was ministering later that week, I had a late work event also in that week and a packed weekend. I very reluctantly had to decline and watch their snaps while I sat there sad to be missing out on what looked like a LIT evening. And why? because I knew I had to a) prepare for the ministration and b) give my body the physical rest it needed to carry out what was required of me. Had I gone, I would have been unprepared for the things ahead.
I had to deny my flesh in pursuit of my purpose.
More and more I am learning preparing means being intentional in all things. Including acquiring knowledge. With great resources out there, many of us, myself included aren’t up-skilling ourselves like we should. We seem to undermine the importance of learning from those who have gone before us. So instead of reading books, attending seminars, listening to podcasts etc in preparation for what we pray for, we wait for it to come and wonder why we feel like our barn is too full.
We do not get the most out of our blessings because we don’t know how to operate it.
When we invest into the things God has called us to, His grace is sufficient for us. Instead of being dragged though each day by our insufficiencies, we are carried by His grace.
And God is able to make all grace abound to you, so that always having all sufficiency in everything, you may have an abundance for every good deed;
2 Corinthians 9:8
As we are approaching the last month of 2018, we may pray harder, fast harder, work harder just so we can say that we can look back and say in the last stretch, we gave it our all. And although these factors are all good and pivotal, how much are you investing in the physical? What are the steps you are taking to increase your knowledge for that new job you may be praying for? how are you increasing your business acumen for that growth you’re believing in your business? and how are you educating yourself on the role of a Godly wife or husband for that spouse you are believing for?
I believe that it is important for us to be well informed and prepared in all realms so I have put together a page which includes some recommended podcast and books from my recent Instagram poll (thanks to those who sent suggestions) and will update it with useful YouVersion bible plans in the next coupe of weeks. Resource’s page here
I hope that these resources are useful and help you to prepare for the blessings attached to your destiny! if God has given it to you, you are graced for it! so keep sowing and believing!
Until next time xxx
